Stags may lose veteran guard

San Sebastian College-Recoletos is bound to lose another vital cog for the NCAA basketball tournament as veteran guard Ryan Costelo is bent on taking his act to the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
No less than Golden Stags coach Egay Macaraya shared the big development to Tempo yesterday, saying the 5-foot-7 playmaker is close to reaching a deal with the Muntinlupa Cagers, the bridesmaid finishers in the inaugural Anta Rajah Cup of the fledging nationwide cage tournament.
“As far as I am concerned, I think he is seriously considering bringing his act to the MPBL since his girlfriend is about to give birth to their first child,” said Macaraya in a phone interview of Costelo, 24, who played an instrumental role in the Golden Stags’ Final Four run last year.
