Cop killed, 9 others hurt in Sagada clash with suspected rebels

BAGUIO CITY — A police officer was killed while 9 others were hurt, in a Tuesday morning (June 5) clash with armed men at Sagada town in Mountain Province.

PO2 Henry Dion was killed by attackers believed to be communist rebels in a 9 a.m. gunbattle at Mount Sisipitan at Barangay Aguid, according to the Cordillera Police Regional Office.

Wounded in the firefight were Supt. Joseph Bangcawayan Cayat, PO3 Wilfred Manacmis, P01 Aldrin C. Bocalan, and P01 Clarence Abuan.

Also reported hurt in the clash were SPO1 Aldrin Potpoten, PO1 Xander Depnag, PO1 Jake B. Pa-at, PO1 Yasser L. Guzman, and PO2 Regie Palome.

The wounded officers were taken to a local hospital.

The police officers responded to a call about extortion activities in Aguid when they were confronted by the group of armed men. /atm
