Trillanes sued over ‘kill threat’ against labor official

LABOR Undersecretary Jacinto Paras on Wednesday sued opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes 4th for grave threats after he allegedly threatened to kill him during a chance meeting at the Senate session hall in late May.

“I filed a criminal case against Mr. Trillanes regarding his threat to me when I was [at]the Senate session hall. He came to me, unprovoked, and he threatened me that ‘yayariin kita [I will kill you]’,” Paras said.

He also told me that I was a “mercenary” and that my boss, President Duterte would not remain forever in his position.

“I was shocked by his gesture because he was supposed to show good behavior because he is the host in the Senate,” Paras said.

Paras said that Trillanes’ anger may have stemmed from the inciting to sedition case, which he and four other lawyers filed against the senator.

“The city fiscal has found probable cause on the inciting to sedition case we filed and a warrant of arrest was subsequently issued to Trillanes,” he said.
