Glitch disrupts MRT-3 service on Independence Day

The Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) offloaded around 700 passengers on Tuesday when one of its trains suffered a glitch.

The service interruption marred the public’s enjoyment of free rides on Independence Day.

Media relations officer Aly Narvaez explained that an MRT-3 train had a “door failure” at the Guadalupe station at 5:28 p.m.

Narvaez said that one of the causes of the door failure is “stress on door components, which may be caused by leaning on the door or forcing it open.”

Affected passengers were transferred to another coach, which arrived eight minutes later.

The MRT-3 management provided free rides to the public on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in celebration of Philippine Independence Day. /ee
