PDEA agents nab public school teacher, 3 others, for drug trafficking

A public school teacher and three others were arrested after yielding a total of P7-million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in the province of Maguindanao, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Saturday.

Suspect Salama Diwa Talib was arrested in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao by agents of PDEA, with the assistance of local authorities, on Friday, June 15.

According to the post-operation report, Talib was a public school teacher at Datu Unsay Elementary School in Maguindanao.

Aside from Talib, the other suspects arrested during the anti-drug operation were Saiden Adil Yusa, Mahmod Guiamalodin Dimudtang, and Naser Kamurindong Pasawilan. All of them were identified as cohorts of Talib in his alleged illegal drug activities.

Seized from the suspects was a pack of suspected shabu weighting 50 grams amounting to P340,000. It was the object of the sale during the PDEA’s buy-bust operation.

Also found from their possession were 950 grams of suspected shabu with street value of P6,460,000, four units of cellular phones, P1,000 bill used as a buy-bust money, and 119 cut pieces of photocopied P1,000 that was also used as a buy-bust money.

The suspects will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /jpv
