New DOT undersecretary appointed
President Rodrigo Duterte had appointed Arturo Boncato Jr. tourism undersecretary to replace Jose Gabriel La Viña who had been transferred to the Department of Agriculture.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat had sought the resignation of undersecretaries and assistant secretaries to have a free hand in reforming the Department of Tourism (DOT) following a scandal involving Wanda Tulfo-Teo, tourism secretary who resigned involving payment by the DOT of P60 million in ads in a radio program hosted by Teo’s brother, Ben. —Christine O.
