Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio thanked her father President Duterte for making her what she is today in her Father’s Day message yesterday.

Sara said the President raised her with rigidity and pushed her to do well in work and education.

“Dear Digong, You were hard on me about education and work. You impressed upon me that I am not a person if I am not a lawyer or a doctor and if I do not work for our country,” she said. “I am grateful for the rigidity. I would not be where I am now if I did not have you as a father and my Mama.”

Sara admitted that she inherited some of her father’s notable characteristics. “I have your twisted sense of humor and the drive to achieve and these are some of my useful tools as I navigate life. Thank you. Happy Father’s Day!”
she said.

Sara also thanked her father for being the way he is in a separate video message for Father’s Day. “Thank you for being who you are because I am who I am and where I am now and I have all these values because of you and my mommy.

Happy Father’s Day!” she said.

Duterte has four children. Sara, former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, and Sebastian – with former wife Elizabeth Zimmerman and Veronica with common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña.

Meanwhile, Malacañang has urged the people to honor their fathers on Father’s Day today.

“Let us take time on Sunday and greet all fathers a Happy Father’s Day. Fathers have always been our guiding hand. Say thank you and tell your father how wonderful he is,” Malacañang said.
