Plastic bag disrupts MRT 3 operations

Operations of the Manila Light Rail line 3 (MRT-3) were disrupted on Tuesday afternoon after a plastic bag was found entangled on one of the line’s messenger wires, the MRT-3 management said in an advisory.

According to the advisory, the plastic bag was found on the messenger wire between the southbound lane of Santolan and Ortigas stations past 2 p.m.  The overhead messenger wire supplies the train with electricity.

Despite the snag, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said no provisional service was implemented in the line.

“No provisional service. Only delay in the movement of trains while intervention is ongoing,” Narvaez told reporters via Viber.

The hanging plastic bag was later removed and operations of the line went back to normal at 2:35 p.m.  /muf
