SC gives Duterte 10 days to answer quo warranto petition

The Supreme Court has ordered President Rodrigo Duterte to comment on the move to oust him via quo warranto proceeding similar with former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

A quo warranto case was filed by Atty. Ely Pamatong saying the certificate of candidacy (COC) filed by Duterte in 2016 was illegal.

Pamatong filed the quo warranto case against Duterte after the high court granted the quo warranto petition that ousted Sereno.

In Pamatong’s petition, the high court gave Duterte 10 days upon receipt of notice to submit his comment.

Sought for comment, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said: “We will respond as ordered.”/jpv
