Drug gang leader slain in Rizal

SAN PEDRO CITY – The alleged leader of an illegal drug and criminal group was killed in Antipolo City in Rizal province on Saturday, the police said Sunday.

A report from the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon police said law enforcers conducted a buy bust operation at about 3 p.m. Saturday in Golden Hills subdivision in Barangay (village) San Roque.

The report said suspect Alden Gallo, alleged leader of the Alden-Paeng group, opened fire during the transaction, prompting the policemen to retaliate.  Gallo was killed on the spot, while his still unidentified cohorts escaped.

Police said the Alden-Paeng group was allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade and in contract killing.

In Tanauan City in Batangas province, police recovered some 25 grams of suspected “shabu” worth about P170,00 in a buy bust operation in Barangay Poblacion, around 8 p.m. Saturday.

The police arrested Rodel Gueverra, 33, a “newly identified” drug personality in the city. /cbb
