Ozamiz Councilor Ardot Parojinog may be sent back to PH in August

Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog may be sent back to the Philippines in August once his sentence is shortened for his illegal entry case in Taiwan, a Philippine National Police (PNP) official said Monday.

Directorate for Intelligence chief Director Gregorio Pimentel said Parojinog was convicted of his illegal entry charge in Taiwan and was sentenced to serve three months imprisonment.

The sentence, Pimentel said, can be shortened once he would be given earlier repatriation upon his request.

“The PNP is coordinating with the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office [TECO] for immediate repatriation,” Pimentel said in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

“Well he was given three months to serve but he is given due notice that he can be granted earlier repatriation upon his request,” he added.

He did not say whether Parojinog had already requested an earlier repatriation for his case.

Parojinog was charged before the Department of Justice with illegal possession of firearms and explosives and violation of Section 3 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act.

He was arrested in May by Taiwan authorities after trying to enter the country with illegal documents.

He went into hiding since the bloody raid that killed his older brother, Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog. /je
