Radio broadcaster shot dead in Albay–report

A radio broadcaster was shot dead in Albay on Friday, according to a radio report.

The victim was identified as Joey Llana, 38, a blocktimer on DWZR.

Llana was shot by an unidentified man inside his car in front of his house in Barangay Peñafrancia, Daraga at 4:45 a.m. on Friday morning.

He was on his way to work, the report quoted police as saying.

Llana, known for his hard-hitting comments, has received multiple death threats before the incident, one of his siblings said.

Daraga Philippine National Police (PNP) and Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) are investigating the incident.

Llana is the 12th journalist killed under the Duterte administration, after Dennis Denora, a publisher of community newspaper Trends and Times, in Davao del Norte where he was killed last June 7. THERESA CLARE K. TAÑAS
