SWS: Most Filipinos find Duterte’s cursing of UN human rights members ‘vulgar’

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte’s alleged threats and cursing against human rights investigators have offended most Filipinos, according to a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The June 27 to 30 survey on 1,200 repondents said that 64 percent found his statement that he would “feed them to the crocodiles” as “vulgar,” 31 percent said it wasn’t while the remaining 5 percent did not know about the issue.

The survey asked whether Duterte’s cursing of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and lawyers from International Criminal Court (ICC) in relation to their investigation on the killings in the war on drugs was vulgar or not. It has a ±3 percent margin of error on the national level and a ±6 margin of error in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The same survey also showed that 52 percent found “vulgar” Duterte’s kissing the lips of a married lady during his visit to South Korea while 55 percent agreed that his claim about priests as “no better than him” was offensive. CHRISTINE FABRO
