Transport suspends jeepney fuel cards over technical glitch

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said that it has temporarily suspended distribution of “pantawid pasada” cards this week to jeepney drivers because of a technical issue encountered by the state-owned Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).

“We apologize for temporarily suspending the distribution of Pantawid Pasada fuel cards due to a technical issue being encountered by Landbank,” LTFRB said in a statement late Thursday.

“Landbank, however, gave us an assurance that they will fix the matter the soonest time possible, so that we can resume the distribution of the cards next week,” LTFRB said.

Pantawid Pasada cards are fuel vouchers containing P833 per month, to be given to jeepney drivers as mandated by the tax reform law.

A total amount of P977 million was allocated for the program for the last six months of 2018 while a budget of P3.86 billion will be allocated for 2019.

Landbank has been tasked to distribute the cards, which the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is funding.  REICELENE JOY N. IGNACIO
