ZAMBOANGA CITY – Six persons were killed while two others were abducted by armed men in Piacan village of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte on Friday evening.

Police Insp. Arnel Neri, the chief of police in Sirawai, said a Cafgu who was just responding to a call for help from civilians were among those killed.

“They were shooting the civilians, five civilians died, one on the spot, and they took the couple Rada,” Neri said.

A source from the communication’s office of the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Office said that the victims were all members of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

“It’s a poor village and couple Ellen Rada and husband Roco were collecting debts from 4Ps members. Suddenly, several armed men stormed the village and started shooting and they kidnapped the Rada couple,” said Zoraida Mustaril from the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial information office.  /kga
