UPDATE: Death toll in Cebu landslide up to 21

NINE more bodies were recovered in the ongoing retrieval operations in Naga City, Cebu after a deadly landslide in the mountainous area, raising the death toll to 21, authorities said on Friday.

The number of missing persons from the deadly landslide on Thursday has yet to be determined.

The Office of Civil Defense said the bodies were recovered by rescuers for from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

A crack in the area where there were ongoing quarry operations was seen as the cause of the landslide although local officials claimed to have released an evacuation notice to residents. DEMPSEY REYES
