UY WINS TOYOTA VIOS CUP RACE 6

The battle of past Toyota Vios Cup champions happened last Friday at the Clark International Speedway with 2016 champion Allan Uy taking a hard earned victory in Race 6 of the series.

Manila Proof-Parts Pro Team driver Uy made a spectacular comeback by fighting Alabang leg winner Estefano Rivera from start to finish. With double points awarded in the last three races, Uy still has a mathematical chance of winning the championship of the Toyota Vios Cup again.

Team Balintawak-Obengers lead driver Rivera took it easy in the final laps as his second place gave him the lead in the series with two more races to go. The two champions were both happy with their results in the premiere Super Sporting class.

“Thank you to all my friends, family and sponsors who have made this all possible,” said a very happy Uy after the race. “I am eternally grateful for the love and support you constantly give me. Most of all, thank you to Him for which through Him, anything is possible. I dedicate my races and everything in between of You!”

The Sporting class race was won by Raffy La Torre of Toyota San Pablo after an intense duel with karter and Obengers’ Jon Dizon. However, Dizon lost second place to Jon Effinger of AP Corse after penalties were tallied after the race.

Sporting class leader Lord Seno of Team Cebu had a bad qualifying in eighth place but managed to climb to fourth in the end. Red Diwa fell down to fifth but will be well placed in the reverse grid format for the next race.

Meanwhile, Team Cebu had a 1-2 finish by Clive Fermin and Bobby Pangilinan in the Promotional class. Fermin gave a superb display of his driving skills and led Pangilinan by two seconds at the finish. JJ Baredo, Miguel Cezar and lady driver Elysse Menorca rounded up the top five in the Promotional class.

The championship will be decided in the final two races of the fifth season of the Toyota Vios Cup.
