Another libel case an advantage — Trillanes
SEN. Antonio Trillanes 4th on Sunday said the filing of another libel case against him by former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte is “an advantage.”
Palo Duterte On Wednesday, September 19, Palo Duterte filed a second libel case againt the senator before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Davao City accusing Trillanes of committing libel during two phone patch interviews: on radio onJune 6 and on television on June 14. The senator in both instances reiterated his allegation that the President’s son is linked to the smuggling into the country of P6.4 billion shabu from China.
“I welcome the filing of the libel case because it will be an opportunity to call Polong [Duterte] as a hostile witness, so he would be compelled to show the tattoo on his back to prove that he is a member of a Chinese Triad drug syndicate as well as an opportunity for me to have his bank accounts subpoenaed,” Trillanes said in in a statement.
The opposition senator now faces three libel cases before the Davao City Prosecutor’s Office —two filed by Paolo Duterte and another one filed by his brother-in-law, Manases Carpio, husband of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. AFP
