2 killed, 5 hurt in Olongapo City road accident

OLONGAPO CITY — A 45-year-old mother was killed while her son died in the hospital after a Victory Liner bus hit a tricycle along the National Highway here on Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the victims as Nilda Ramos and her son, John Ernel Ramos, 25, who was driving the tricycle.

Nilda’s five other children, who were also passengers of the tricycle, survived the accident  in Barangay Old Cabalan at about 1 p.m.

The Ramos family was driving towards Bataan when it was sideswiped by a closed delivery van, forcing the tricycle to swerve in the path of the bus at the opposite lane.

The surviving members of the Ramos family were rushed to the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital.

The police are tracking down the driver of the delivery van who sped off towards Bataan. /ee
