Govt debt hits new record high of P7.195-T

THE national government’s outstanding debt accelerated to a new record high in November due to higher domestic borrowings, the Bureau of the Treasury reported on Thursday.
At P7.195 trillion, the amount was 0.4 percent up or P27.94 billion from October’s P7.167 trillion, the Treasury said in a statement.
“Of the total stock, 34.6 percent were sourced externally while 65.4 percent were borrowed domestically,” it added.
