Taiwan donates $200,000 for relief work on victims of tropical depression ‘Usman’

The government of Taiwan on Friday donated US$200,000 to help the victims of tropical depression “Usman” which hit the Philippines recently.

The donation ceremony was held at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines.

Ambassador Michael Peiyung Hsu, Representative of TECO in the Philippines and acting on behalf of the government of Taiwan, presented a check for US$200,000 to Vice Chairman Gilberto F. Lauengco, Manila Economic and Cultural Office.

During the donation ceremony, Ambassador Hsu said that the people of Taiwan have expressed their deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims of “Usman”. Lauengco, on behalf of the Philippine government, thanked Taiwan for the deed of goodwill and benevolence.

Ambassador Hsu said Taiwan is willing to provide timely assistance to help the victims overcome the hardship and promptly restore their lives back to normal.
