No pneumonia outbreak — Health dept

THE Department of Health (DOH) dispelled rumors circulating on the internet of a pneumonia outbreak.
In a text message, Health Undersecretary Rolando Domingo said on Friday that as of December 2018 the number of pnuemonia cases was lower than in December 2017.
Domingo, however, said that pneumonia was one of the potential complications of flu, but it was nothing that proper hygiene could not prevent.
Just the same, the DoH official urged the public to take precautions so as not to get infected by the highly contagious viral disease.
Flu is “expected this time of the year [but] the rate is not unusually higher than the previous years.”
Pneumonia is a common lung inflammation caused by bacteria, fungi or virus. CATHERINE MODESTO
