MANILA, Philippines — Tycoon Henry Sy Sr. lived a life of “hard work, self-discipline, and clear vision to succeed.”

This was how Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan honored on Saturday Philippine’s richest man and philanthropist Sy who passed away.

“He is a migrant who defied life’s hardships with hard work, self-discipline, and clear vision to succeed,” Pangilinan said in a statement.

Pangilinan also said that Sy helped not only the public but also the Philippine economy with the use of his businesses.

“His businesses have helped provide livelihood to hundreds of thousands of Filipinos and propel the economy into what it is today,” Pangilinan said.

“Thank you for believing in the Filipinos and in transforming their lives,” he added.

Pangilinan then extended his condolences to the family and friends as he also expressed sympathy for the people who are mourning.

Sy passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 94. /jpv
