PILI, Camarines Sur — Camarines Sur Gov. Miguel “Migz” Villafuerte declared on Saturday evening a no sailing policy in the province through a memorandum shortly after a low pressure area entered the Philippine area of responsibility.

Villafuerte said in the statement posted in his official Facebook account that Gale Warning No. 7 has been issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) over the eastern coast of Southern Luzon and the provinces of Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte.

He also said the sea condition is expected to be rough with waves reaching from 2.8 to 4.5 meters.

Meanwhile, Mayor Margarita Aguinillo of Buhi town in Camarines Sur had already ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools for Monday as the town prepared for the LPA.

Just last December, Buhi suffered three landslides spawned by another LPA — which was Tropical Depression Usman — where 22 died while five are still missing.

Meanwhile, no preemptive evacuation has been reported yet in the province as of Saturday evening.

Pagasa warned that the LPA could turn into a tropical depression, which would then be called “Amang.”

Pagasa said it would likely make landfall over Surigao del Norte by Sunday evening.
