Honasan no-show on opening of graft trial

SEN. Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan 2nd on Tuesday was a no-show as the Sandiganbayan’s Second Division began trying the graft cases filed against him and other individuals in connection with the alleged misuse of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel allocation totaling P29.1 million in 2012.
The lawyers of Honasan, who is out on bail, were present in court.
License officer Charito Soriano and Chief Administrative Officer Marissa Santos of the Department of Budget and Management’s Central Records Division testified for the prosecution.
The prosecution dispensed with their testimonies after it and the defense stipulated on the existence of the documents, which they were supposed to identify in court.
