THE Philippines will be sending a Navy ship to the fleet review, which China will host in April, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said in a text message to reporters on Tuesday.
The Chinese Navy will hold its fleet review on April 23 off the city of Qingdao in eastern China, marking the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Navy in Beijing.
Capt. Jonathan Zata, Philippine Navy spokesman, said details pertaining to the deployment of a ship for fleet review are still being ironed out.
Japan confirmed in December that its Maritime Self-Defense Force would be deploying some of its vessels for the fleet review in China. DEMPSEY REYES
