Police fish out pistol in Batocabe slay from pond in Albay

POLICE retrieved a pistol allegedly used in assassinating AKO Bicol Rep. Rodel Batocabe was retrieved from a fishpond in Ligao City, Albay on Wednesday.

Members of the Special Investigation Task Group “Batocabe” retrieved the caliber .45 with inserted magazine loaded with 10 live ammunition at the pond in Barangay Busay.

It was Christopher “Tuping” Naval, one of the prime suspects, who helped police locate and identify the gun.

Naval said it was one of the two firearms self-confessed gun man Henry Yuson used in killing Batocabe.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde has directed the Crime Laboratory to continue with the forensic exam and cross-matching of the recovered firearm with the spent cartridges from the crime scene to determine if they were fired from the same weapon.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) previously recovered a caliber .45 pistol inside a septic tank in the backyard of Emmanuel Rosello, another suspect.

Daraga, Albay Mayor Carlwyn Baldo, the alleged mastermind, was arrested on Tuesday for possession of unlicensed firearms.

He was rushed to the hospital on the same day after experiencing asthma attack and high blood pressure. ROY NARRA
