P12-M ‘shabu’ seized in Clark

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Bureau of Customs (BOC) personnel on Friday seized about 1,834 grams of shabu (crystal meth), valued at P12 million and sealed in four cans from the United States, in the Port of Clark.

The contraband was concealed inside “Pepperidge Farm Perouette” cans from Nevada, the U.S. last January 22, BOC officials said in a statement.

BOC personnel profiled the shipments after apprehending earlier 20,136 kilograms of shabu worth P136.9 million, 200 pieces of ecstasy worth P340,000 and 3.165 kilograms of Kush or high-grade marijuana worth P3.798 million.

According to the BOC, the current two shipments were declared to contain candy and baby clothes.

These were placed under alert orders by Acting District Collector Lilibeth Sumbilla-Sandag and underwent X-ray examination, canine inspection, and physical examination as witnessed by PDEA Central Luzon agents who found four plastic packs of white crystalline substances inside the four cans.

PDEA chemistry reports confirmed these to be shabu.

Sandag issued seizure and detention warrants for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, Republic Act No. 10863 and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./lzb
