French ‘spiderman’ arrested after climbing 700-ft Makati City tower

MANILA, Philippines — Policemen arrested French urban climber Alain Robert after he scaled a 712.93-foot tall skyscraper in Makati City on Tuesday.

The Makati Police Station apprehended the so-called French “spiderman” for lack of permit to climb the building, trespassing, and for causing nuisance to people around the area.

Authorities said it was bystanders, who witnessed Robert climb up the building, who asked police for assistance.

Robert started his ascent around 10: 40 a.m., according to police.

Robert’s legal counsel, Atty. Howard Calleja, said his client arrived in the Philippines last Friday with the intent of scaling a tower to add to his list of achievements.

After completing his daring act, police apprehended Robert and brought him to Makati police’s headquarters for documentation and investigation. /kga
