MMDA: Expect slower traffic as Manila’s Concordia Bridge undergoes repair

MANILA, Philippines — Motorists should expect minor traffic adjustments as portions of the Concordia Bridge along Quirino Avenue in Manila will be closed due to ongoing reconstruction.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said that the bridge’s northbound lane will be closed to traffic starting Saturday (February 9) at 11 p.m., thus, vehicles heading north or south will share the three remaining lanes of the bridge.
Meanwhile, the southbound lane that was earlier cordoned off to motorists will now be opened.

“Three lanes on the southbound will be divided into a two-way traffic,” Garcia said.
Once the lanes are opened on the northbound direction, two lanes will be dedicated to vehicles heading to Manila area from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the heavy volume of vehicles going to various streets of Manila.
The other lane will be for vehicles bound for Roxas Boulevard or the South Luzon Expressway (Slex) area.
“From 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., the course will be vice versa,” Garcia added.
The reconstruction of the Concordia Bridge began May of last year due to safety concerns.
The MMDA also warned motorists of heavy traffic along the Nagtahan Bridge as its outer lanes will be closed sometime next week to pave the way for the ongoing construction of the Skyway project 3. /jpv
