MANILA, Philippines — Former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas has changed his stand on the legalization of divorce in the Philippines.

Roxas, in an interview with ANC’s program “Headstart” on Tuesday,  said he was for divorce.

“Look, there’s the law of the church and then there’s the law for man. And for me, I believe if a couple cannot really make it work anymore, for the sake of the kids, for the sake of the two individuals, give them a chance to start over,” he said when asked about his stance on divorce.

When he ran for president in 2016, Roxas opposed the legalization of divorce.
