SAN PEDRO CITY, Philippines – Two suspected drug pushers were killed in a police operation into an alleged drug in Antipolo City, where four girls were reportedly being used as sex slaves, authorities said Thursday.

City police chief Supt Villaflor Bannawagan, in a phone interview, said an alias “Julius” was the target of the anti-illegal drug operation that turned into a shootout at about 11:50 p.m., Wednesday.

Before the operation, Bannawagan said the police rescued an 18-year-old woman who led them to the suspects’ house inside Robinson’s Homes in Barangay (village) San Roque.

“It was a drug den which they also used as a sex den. They were bringing in girls and letting them sniff shabu,” the officer said.

An undercover policeman was able to buy a sachet of suspected shabu from Julius. He had even introduced himself as a policeman.

Bannawagan said Julius must have realized that there were police back-up teams around and started shooting. A companion of Julius named Rolanda Tajan also reportedly opened fire which triggered the shootout.

Both men were killed in the exchange of gunfire.

The police rescued three other women, aged 15, 18, and 22, from the drug den. /cbb
