THROUGH NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC: Emotions ran high as Gina Lopez announced recently her award-winning TV program “G Diaries” forging a partnership with National Geographic.

The former Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources was teary-eyed, excited and ecstatic as she shared news that her weekly environment-friendly TV show, now on its third season, will soon go global.

The partnership involves NAT GEO’s participation in a Lopez pet project that aims to transform marginalized communities into successful and sustainable agro – forestry, fisheries and ecotourism sites. Called I LOVE sites, they will be beamed across NAT GEO’s media platforms and digital assets worldwide to as many as 173 countries.

Lopez’s I LOVE (Investments in Loving Organizations or Village Economies) Foundation, which she founded in 2017, will highlight of the show’s third season.

Featured are the eight communities that won last year’s “Quest for Love” which will be getting technical and financial support for their livelihood projects.

These “I LOVE” sites, are in Tublay, Benguet; Bulusan, Sorsogon; Sta Cruz Island, Zamboanga; Polomolok, South Cotabato; Lake Sebu, South Cotabato; Simunul Island and Bongao, Tawi Tawi; Upi, Maguindanao; and Maramag, Bukidnon.

MODEL FOR PROGRESS: “What we want to do is create a model. We want to show that when people care, when there’s someone who stands for integrity and love, you end up making more money, there will be peace and order, there will be good health,” Lopez said.

Lopez and Jude Turcuato, FOX International Channel senior vice president, signed the partnership, where NAT GEO will create and show communication materials on the featured communities in “G Diaries” to its global audience.

Turcuato shared that by showing the stories of the eight communities to the world, they can prove that change is possible.

“G Diaries” Season 3 airs on ABS-CBN every Sunday, 10 a.m.

It also airs every Sunday on cable TV ANC, ABS-CBN News Channel, and METRO Channel.
