Maynilad shares supply with Manila Water

MAYNILAD Water Services, Inc. is sharing its supply with Manila Water Co. Inc. to ease the shortage in parts of Metro Manila and Rizal province, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System–Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) announced on Friday.
In a press briefing, MWSS-RO Chief Regulator Patrick Lester Ty said, “We have secured the commitment of Maynilad to share 50 MLD [million liters per day] to Manila Water” under the cross-border sharing.
Maynilad President and Chief Executive Officer Ramoncito Fernandez confirmed this in a text message to The Manila Times and said the sharing started “this afternoon in West Avenue.”
Ty told reporters cross-border sharing was one of the short-term solutions identified by the agency to address the current supply crunch.
Several deep wells are being tapped in consultation with the National Water Resources Board, he said.
