Suspected drug pusher killed, 4 nabbed in Quezon buy-busts

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Anti-drug operatives killed an alleged drug pusher and arrested four others in separate buy-bust operations in this city and in two other towns in Quezon province Friday and Saturday, police said.

Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, Quezon police director, said suspect Poly De Guzman, 40, was killed by anti-illegal drugs operatives after he reportedly resisted arrest and shot policemen in Barangay (village) Dalahican around 9:50 p.m. on Friday.

Earlier, De Guzman sold “shabu” (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer during the bust. But as he was being arrested, police said the suspect struggled and was able to run away while shooting at policeman with a caliber .38 revolver. The policeman fired back and killed the suspect on the spot.

Authorities recovered 14 plastic sachets of shabu weighing 28 grams and with a street value of P140,000.

In Sariaya town, authorities arrested Johnrey Alviso and Rommel Seño in another drug sting around 3:45 a.m. Saturday. The suspects also sold P700 worth of shabu to an undercover police officer during the bust.

In Candelaria town, two more suspected drug pushers, Alvin Agno and Mark Angelo Bravo, were also collared in a buy-bust.

Police seized from the suspects six sachets of shabu weighing 1.17 grams and a motorcycle which they allegedly use in their illegal drug activities. /muf
