BROADCAST journalist Gretchen Fullido filed a motion for reconsideration before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office (QCPO), which dismissed the libel charges she filed against her colleagues, her lawyer said on Thursday.

In a post on Facebook, Marvin Aceron said the public should “not be misled into believing that the cases have been dismissed with finality.”

“The filing of the Motions for Reconsideration, 10 days from receipt of the resolutions, keeps the cases alive. And in the event of denial, we have resolved to file a Petition for Review with the Department of Justice,” Aceron said.

The QCPO on March 22 dismissed Fullido’s libel charges against ABS-CBN journalist Ces Oreña-Drilon, news reporter Marie Lozano, and network executive Venancio Borromeo, which she filed late last year.

The libel case stemmed from statements issued by the three on the administrative complaint filed by Fullido against network executives for sexual harassment, claiming that the case was a way to boost her employment status in the media company.

The prosecutors recommended the dismissal of the libel charges against Drilon, Lozano and Borromeo because their sworn statements about Fullido were “not defamatory.” ARIC JOHN SY CUA
