Operators commit 800 buses to cover MRT-3 route — LTFRB

MANILA, Philippines – More than 800 buses will cater to commuters during the weeklong maintenance shutdown of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Tuesday.
LTFRB chair Martin Delgra said bus operators committed to deploy their units throughout the week.
“More than 800 units ang na-commit nila,” Delgra said in an interview over dzMM.
“Spread out over the week ‘yung 800,” he clarified.
Transport authorities initially deployed 140 buses along the MRT-3 route during the Holy Week to load and unload passengers at the train system’s stations.
The LTFRB said 160 more buses were given special permits to cater to MRT-3 passengers.

Meanwhile, Delgra said the LTFRB granted special permits to 1,103 bus units across the country to ferry passengers during the Holy Week.
This will serve the expected surge of passengers, as Filipinos start to go to the provinces and pilgrimage sites during the Semana Santa, he said. /cbb
