Some of the country’s biggest banks will take advantage of the holiday break in observance of the Holy Week to upgrade their systems.

This means that besides their physical branches, clients will have limited access to these banks’ automated teller machines (ATMs) and other electronic platforms.

BDO Unibank Inc. said its branches will be closed from Maundy Thursday until Easter Sunday.

It also advised clients of a major systems upgrade, which will result in temporary unavailability of its ATMs, debit cards and cash cards, and mobile and online banking starting from 8 p.m on Friday to 12 noon on Saturday.

Philippine National Bank (PNB) will also conduct system maintenance activities from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. of April 21.

During this time, the bank said its ATM/debit cards using PNB and other banks’ ATM/POS terminals, mobile banking app, internet banking and remittance channel would be unavailable.

Meanwhile, all Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), BPI Family Savings Bank branches nationwide will be closed from Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday.

China Banking Corp. branches will also be closed during the same period.

All EastWest Bank and Philippine Savings Bank (PSBank) branches nationwide will also be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, our network of 575 ATMs, the PSBank Mobile and PSBank Online (Internet banking) will be available for your banking needs,” PSBank said.

EastWest advised that some of its mall-based stores with Weekend Banking will be open on Black Saturday and Easter Sunday.

On April 20 (Black Saturday), the following EastWest mall-based stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: 168 Mall, Baclaran, Greenhills Shopping Center, Festival Mall Level 2, Bicutan-East Service Road, and Cebu Park Mall.

On April 21 (Easter Sunday), the following EastWest mall-based stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: 168 Mall, Baclaran, and Festival Mall Level 1.

The bank also announced that it would have a system-wide downtime on Easter Sunday that would render the bank’s online, ATM, and cards services unavailable.

Banks’ regular branch operations will resume on Monday, April 22. MAYVELIN U. CARABALLO
