Flights canceled as Clark airport remains closed

SEVERAL flights to and from Clark International Airport (CIA) have been cancelled as the airport remained closed due to earthquake damage.

For its April 23 flight advisory, Philippine Airlines (PAL)  grounded one international and 47 domestic flights to and from Clark.

PAL also cancelled its lone international and 45 domestic and flights for April 24.

“We urge passengers with flights to/from Clark to check the status of their flights by logging on to www.philippineairlines.com and clicking the flight status button as early as 48 hours to their estimated time departure,” said PAL in a statement.I

t added that “PAL ticket office at the damaged Clark airport terminal remains closed. Affected passengers in the Clark/Pampanga area with urgent travel needs may call (45) 40968888; or if urgently necessary, may proceed to the Angeles City ticket office where operations are extended until 7 p.m. A free shuttle service is available every hour starting today to ferry affected passengers from the airport to the PAL Ticketing Office in Angeles City.”

Following the notice released by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) temporarily closing the runway at the Clark International Airport until April 24, Cebu Pacific  cancelled at least four flights from Clark (2 domestic and 2 international) on Tuesday.

Five international and eight domestic flights in its April 24 flight schedule to and from Clark were also cancelled.

CEB management said affected passengers would be notified via email or text messages. They may manage their own booking through the “Manage Booking” section of the Cebu Pacific website (www.cebupacificair.com).

“We are cooperating with the Clark International Airport authorities and are ready to extend any help they may need,” the CEB said in a statement. BENJIE L. VERGARA
