MANILA, Philippines — Despite government efforts to modernize the country’s educational system, public school teachers in Libertad, Abuyog, Leyte still have to climb mountains to connect to the internet when they submit school forms and year-end reports.

Netizen Joseph Sumayang shared on Facebook photos of a group of teachers in the said town and lamented the difficult challenge these educators need to surmount to comply with the requirements set by the Department of Education (DepEd).

Sumayang then appealed for accessible wireless internet connectivity in their area.

In April last year, DepEd vowed to provide every school in the country with an internet connection to improve teaching and learning methods for Filipinos.
