Villar, Poe share lead in Pulse Asia senatorial poll

REELECTIONIST Sen. Cynthia Villar and Sen. Grace Poe shared the lead in the May senatorial race based on the latest survey by Pulse Asia released on Tuesday.

A total of 51.7 percent of Filipino adults would have voted for Villar, making her No. 1 if the May elections were held in April.

Villar was followed by Poe with 50.5 percent saying they would support her.

With his voter preference at 45.7 percent, former senator Manuel “Lito” Lapid earned the third to fourth places.

Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano has a statistical ranking of third to sixth places with 43.9 percent, while former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go ranked fourth to eighth places with 40.8 percent voter preference rate.

Completing the list of probable winners are Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara (40.4 percent), former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. (38.1 percent), former Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald dela Rosa (36.7 percent), Sen. Maria Lourdes Nancy Binay (36.2 percent), Sen. Aquilino “Koko,” Pimentel 3rd (31.8 percent), Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos (29.6 percent), former senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada (28.8 percent), Sen. Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino 4th (28.8 percent), and Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Estrada Ejercito (28.1 percent).

The Pulse Asia poll, between April 10 and 14 among 1,800 likely voters 18 years old and above, had a ± 2.3 percent error margin at the 95 percent confidence level. CATHERINE S. VALENTE
