Infrastructure damage from Luzon quake hits P539M — NDRRMC

DAMAGE to infrastructure caused by the earthquake in Luzon last week reached P539 million, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Thursday.

In Metro Manila, damage to schools was at P17 million; Ilocos region, P41.5 million; Calabarzon, P70 million; and Central Luzon, P210.5 million.

Damage to roads and bridges was estimated at P200 million.

Other damaged structures with no recorded cost of damage include health facilities, government structures, utilities, an airport, places of worship, commercial and private buildings, and dams, based on reports obtained by the NDRRMC from various government agencies.

As for the damaged houses, the NDRRMC recorded a total of 4,155 houses that were totally or partially destroyed by the 6.1-magnitude earthquake in parts of Luzon.

Of the number, 953 were totally damaged while 3,202 were partially damaged. DEMPSEY REYES
