2 suspects in stabbing incident dead in Quezon shootout

LUCENA CITY – Police killed two suspects in a stabbing incident after they allegedly engaged the authorities in a firefight in San Andres town in Quezon province Saturday afternoon, police said Sunday.

Jebby Oro Sr. and one alias “Lando” who were aboard a motorcycle reportedly fired at the policemen manning a checkpoint in Barangay (village) Tala at about 12:30 p.m., Police Major Elizabeth Capistrano, Quezon police public information officer, said in a report Sunday.

Report said Oro, who was driving the motorcycle, stopped at the checkpoint. But instead of submitting themselves to the authorities, Oro and backrider “Lando” allegedly drew their firearms and fired at the policemen. A police officer who was wearing a bulletproof vest was hit on the right side of the abdomen.

Policemen returned fire and hit the two gunmen. The wounded suspects died while being taken to San Andres Rural Health Center.
