1 hurt as dump truck blows tire, hits bridge barrier at NLEX

MANILA, Philippines — A dump truck crashed into a bridge barrier at the Pulilan northbound exit of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Bulacan on Wednesday morning, leaving its driver injured.
NLEX traffic manager Robin Ignacio told Radyo INQUIRER in an interview that the truck blew out a front tire at about 6:20 a.m. causing the unidentified driver to lose control. The truck then hit the barrier or parapet of the Angat River bridge.
The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries, while his helper was not hurt, Ignacio said.
The accident caused two lanes of the expressway to be closed. Traffic backed up for more than 2 kilometers after the accident, Ignacio said.
As of 9:13 a.m., NLEX said traffic in the area is still slow-moving. /muf
