THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday advised Filipinos going to Singapore to secure medical insurance before their trip to the island state.

The DFA issued the advisory due to the increasing number of Filipinos “who find themselves in need of urgent medical attention while visiting Singapore.”

In a statement the DFA said the insurance “provides protection from any unforeseen circumstances, such as medical treatment.”

“It guarantees medical coverage, thereby easing the burden on the part of the traveler, his/her family and friends in case of emergency,” it said.

Filipinos are encouraged to consult with their travel agents or visit the website of their airline of choice for more information about the benefits of an insurance, the DFA said. BERNADETTE E. TAMAYO
