NBOC resumes canvassing of votes from midterm elections

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec), sitting as the National Board of Canvassing (NBOC), resumed on Sunday afternoon its session to canvass votes in the recently concluded midterm polls.
As of Saturday night, the NBOC had already canvassed a total of 158 certificates of canvass (COCs) out of the total 167 COCs from clustered precincts nationwide.
This, according to the poll body, is equivalent to 94.61 percent.
The NBOC suspended its Saturday session pending the transmission of local precincts and from overseas absentee voting.

Partial and official results showed that re-electionist senators Cynthia Villar and Grace Poe continue to maintain their lead in the senatorial race.
They were followed by former special assistant to the president Christopher ‘Bong’ Go, Taguig Representative Pia Cayetano, and former Philippine National Police chief Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa.

Meanwhile, the ongoing partial unofficial count from the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting transparency server showed that as of 11:09 a.m., votes from 86,319 clustered precincts have already been transmitted.
The NBOC first convened its canvassing last Monday but immediately adjourned as no votes were transmitted to the Comelec. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
