PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde disclosed on Monday that 27 winning candidates in the midterm elections last May 13 were in President Rodrigo Duterte’s “narcolist.”

“Out of 47 na nasa narcolist: 37 ang tumakbo, 27 and nanalo,” PNP chief General Oscar Albayalde told reporters.

Albayalde withheld the names but he said some were elected as provincial governors and mayors in Central Luzon and the Southern Tagalog.

President Rodrigo Duterte named 46 public officials — from vice mayor to members of the House of Representatives — from a list of over 80 alleged narco-politicians who were running in the midterm elections.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) backed Duterte’s list and said it had been validated with the PNP, military and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.

Albayalde said the DILG was keen on filing “administrative and criminal” cases against these politicians should there be proof of their involvement with the illegal drug trade. NEIL JAYSON N. SERVALLOS
