MANILA, Philippines — Former presidential aide and now Senator-elect Christopher “Bong” Go conceded that President Rodrigo Duterte’s push for federalism remained a “long shot” as he noted the public’s lack of awareness.

“Federalism is a long shot, kahit itanong niyo kay Pangulong Duterte. Go told reporters Wednesday after the proclamation of winning senatorial candidates.

A shift to a federal form of government was one of Duterte’s campaign promises in the 2016 presidential elections.
