THE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) slapped hefty fines on and suspended San Miguel Beer’s Ronald Tubid and Kelly Nabong, and two team officials for hitting “Spiderman” last May 10 in Game 5 of the Philippine Cup Finals against Magnolia at the Araneta Coliseum.

Tubid and Nabong were suspended for three games and fined P75,000 each while team doctor Ramon Ibañez and assistant team manager Daniel Henares were suspended for two games and fined P50,000 each.

Tubid was caught on camera punching Paolo Felizarta on the back of his head after he was arrested by the venue’s security. Tubid apologized later to the media for his action but didn’t escape the league’s sanctions.

Nabong was caught with the other team officials hitting Felizarta’s companion identified as Flenn John Lola during the commotion at the San Miguel Beer bench.

League Commissioner Willie Marcial, who talked to the players and team officials involved, did not reveal the other details of the meeting.

Felizarta, dressed as Spiderman, entered the court during the fourth quarter of Game 5 and bumped into reigning five-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo who was hit on the jaw.

Felizarta and his companion were brought to Police Station 7 in Quezon City.
