MANILA, Philippines —  The Philippine National Police (PNP) will check on the security of the family of Peter Joemel Advincula, the man claiming to be “Bikoy” in the narcolist videos, said PNP chief Police General Oscar Albayalde on Monday.

“We have directed ‘yung PRO5 (Police Regional Office 5) to check on the security of his family and assess kung may threat talaga sa kanilang pamilya (if there is indeed a threat to his family),” Albayalde said in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

Advincula, after claiming drug links of some allies and relatives of President Rodrigo Duterte, earlier surfaced and retracted all his allegations, saying the Liberal Party and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV were behind the videos.

With him during an earlier press conference last Thursday at the national police headquarters were his mother and brother Joseph, who claimed there was a threat to his life and his mother’s.

Advincula was hospitalized in Camp Crame after his blood pressure shot up, but was released Saturday afternoon without requesting for security from PNP. He has also posted bail for all his pending estafa cases.

Albayalde said Advincula did not leave any evidence he promised to police, but vowed to resurface again and bring proof to back up his fresh claims. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
